11:17pm: Seriously, WTF? So rude! I can only think that I must have woken up at a bad point in my sleep cycle. Grumble, grumble.

Also, while my headache was gone by this morning (did I update yesterday? Apparently not, well suffice to say I had a terrible headache in the evening, paracetamol didn't do shit for it, bah, good thing I found some ibpruofen!) my guts decided to be unco-operative so I felt pretty eww for a lot of the day.

However! I didn't let it get me down and I won Canasta against M tonight! Whoo-hoo! Although it was an afternoon/evening game and M's never at her best at that time. We might play another hand tomorrow, we'll have to see.

Also, another great benefit in visiting M and Grandpa is getting a delicious lunch/dinner - it was lamb cutlets this time around, super delicious! With cauliflower and mashed potatoes. Belissimo!

Oh and there was ice cream with banana, rockmelon and chocolate sauce for dessert. Good times!

Right, so I was hoping this entry would make more sense, but like I said I'm inexplicibly tired as Hell so I'm gonna wrap this up here and hit the hay.

Goodnight all!

11:18pm: Yeeeessss! After work today I went over to M and Grandpa's place so M and I could play Canasta together and as you can probably guess from my subject title, I won! Yaaaaays! I have to admit I was greatly assisted by the first hand. I shuffled the cards, but I still ended up with all the wild cards - necessary for making Canastas, so I was like way ahead. But! M is known for her fight backs and she got awfully close to beating me. :O) Gotta keep on your toes.

Moving on, not a lot to report, I didn't update yesterday because I've fallen into this one day on, one day off thing, but I'm pleased to say despite feeling rather lazy I got off my butt and went to the gym, good for me! Oh! And it went well with the pyschiatrist who gave me some more tips and I've also arranged to to see him in three months rather then the six we've been doing. :O) With any luck I'll be able to work on my anxiety and cut down on the panic attacks. It would appear that I naturally breath a little faster than is normal, which makes it rather easy for me to start hyperventilating, which is the enemy of the panicky person. So I really should work on that...I need to listen to my mindful breathing app before I go to sleep. Although I neglected to do that yesterday because I got distracted by a fanfic - although not mine :OP I'm still working on it though!

I ended up going to be late though, which isn't doing my eyelid twitch any good, it's still going a bit...and I can't sleep in on Sundays since I go to church in the morning. So yes, better not stay up too late, even though I didn't get to watch my house shows this evening because I needed to watch the Bridget Jones' Baby DVD I got from the library, I was going to renew it because it's due tomorrow, but someone's got a hold on it, so...But I managed to do that so everything's coming up Moose! :OP

Right, on that note, I better be off (gawd, I've fallen way behind on the memes again, gotta do something about that). My one regret is I didn't get a chance to go ice skating...and also that I need to get my blades sharpened, man, it's such a long drive out there.

Guess I'll have to wait for next week.

Oh! And I almost forgot, whilst I didn't stay over at the M and Grandpa's, I did have dinner there, Grandpa had made spaghetti mince so we had pasta with a salad. Delicious!

For now, I bid you all goodnight!

11:09pm: Yes indeed! The Big Day! Although not really. :OP

Although I'm rather disturbed to realise...I'm now the same age as Bridget Jones was in the first book/movie. OMG! That's so weird. I'm gonna freak out when I'm 47 (you Backies know what I'm talking about), I'm sure!

Anyway! I received many birthday well-wishes and the Home Library Service at Dee Why even sent me a birthday card! Although for some reason they sent it to my old, old address (the granny flat at Mum's friend's house), so I better make sure that's updated when I got in next!

I also got an SMS from my brother Chris, and my big bro Mike sent me an email as did my sister-in-law which was really nice. And Mum called me later on as well.

And of course, all my Facebook friends! Thank you to you all!

So this morning I went to work at the library where I've picked up some more shifts and there was a birthday cake too! It wasn't actually for just me, another staff member had their birthday a few days before too. It was a flourless lemon cake, but pretty good for all of that.

After that it was off to M and Grandpa's for lamb cutlets and canasta! As it happened there was another surprise, for dessert Vienetta Cakem, which if you're unfamiliar is this! It's as delicious as it looks.

I also ended up winning the Canasta! Go me! Although, I did make a big mistake in the second hand that I was practically kicking myself over, and we kept getting the same amount of canastas etc. etc. Soo it wasn't an easy win by any means.

After that, I popped by Mum and Dad's to see Dad and find out how the carpet cleaning went...except the cleaning hadn't happened! Which was very annoying, except it did allow Dad to take the machine over to my little bro's place and clean his carpets there - they were looking rather sad. Since my little bro is trying to find a new flatmate this might help make a better impression on prospective viewers. Fingers crossed.

And now I see that it's quite late so I better get going, except for one last meme:

Sunday Stealing

1/10/2016

:The Musical Perceptions Questions:

1. Where did you grow up? Canberra for the first five years, Dubbo until I was 10 and then Sydney from 11 onwards.

2. Where do you live now? Sydney, the biggest city in Australia - but interestingly enough not the capital.

3. What do you think about religion? I'm Catholic, but I don't buy into the whole "Gotta convert everyone, one true religion" thing.

4. When did you start using online social media? I guess it was around 1999 if you count ICQ, if you mean online journals and stuff that'd be 2003.

5. What did you study to be? A librarian, it's proving to be difficult.

6. How are you at this point of your career? See above. I've got two jobs though so I guess it's not all that bad.

7. Do you use your real name on a blog? Not my full name, but my first name, yes.

8. Do people you work with read your blog? One of them does, apparently, or at least sometimes. I'm not sure how they found it to be honest. But I haven't said anything too horrible on here.

9. Are you on the job market? Yes, sort of.

10. If you could go back in time to meet someone famous but now deceased, who would it be? I'd like to meet George III! I have no idea what he'd think of me though.

And now I'm off, but dang it I missed out on doing my Russian tonight, sigh! Why the fail me.

But now I must say goodnight!

11:08pm: 'Cause I can't think of one! Seriously, major fail me.

It doesn't help that I'm feeling quite sleepy which is rather weird because I got enough zzzzs last night, then again, I suppose one night can't fix everything. :OP

Moving on, I didn't get my Canasta vengence today! M and I didn't end up finishing the game. I started off super-well, then M started fighting back...and we have a family rule that not only do you have to reach 5,000 points, you have to go out on winning hand. So despite the fact I did reach 5,000, I haven't won yet. So next time I go over it will be a fight to the death to get two Canastas and go out! Winning takes all. :OP

After a delicious lunch cooked by Grandpa (I had no idea he was such a good cook, but then he did have to cook for himself when he was out on his yacht for all those years) and helping M out with her laptop a bit it was off to the the library for my volunteering.

I was also meant to speak to that person about interviews and stuff, but I don't think Thursday's a good day for her...she wasn't actually there when I arrive and then there was a farewell party for a member of staff and by the time I finished my selections for home library service patrons she was busy or gone again (not sure which to be honest). So I might have to do a different day...

But hey, the farewell meant cake! :OD I'm never one to turn down cake.

However! I did remember to call the mechanic when I got home and I've booked my car in for its service next Thursday. Hopefully it won't be too pricey! I'm supposed to be saving money after all.

Right, I better wrap this up and hit the hay, work calls tomorrow!

anonymoose_au: (I Don't Know...)
10:54pm: Yes! As I'm sure you can guess from my subject heading I'm at M and Grandpa's house and this afternoon M and I played Canasta.

And I was sooooo close to winning! But alas, M pipped me at the post! LOL, M is always so relieved when she wins! Like she didn't used to beat me constantly for fifteen years. :OP Ah well, I have a chance for revenge tomorrow, which means I gotta keep this update short.

Not that I've got much to say, I did finally get around to changing some of the water in Plushenko the fish's tank. Only problem is the siphon pump thing I got turned out to be too big for my tank and thus didn't work! This is no good because I had to completely wreck the packaging to get it out and I'm pretty sure I didn't save the receipt for it so how am I going to return it? I'm not even sure if I can exchange it because I'm pretty sure it's the smallest one they had. Dang...

But Plushenko seems happy and that's the important thing, I was rather worried that in trying to get the siphon to work I might have startled him too much. But when I left for Scripture class this afternoon he was swimming about happily.

And OMG Scripture class was a shock! First of all I ended up running late because I washed my hair before going and managed to fall down on my time-keeping and second of all when I got there...the teacher who's supposed to be taking the class wasn't there! And she wasn't late...she just...wasn't there! I guess she must have been sick or something, but I had no idea and no way to contact her.

So I ended up taking the class! Fortunately, the actual teacher provided some assistance in keeping the class calm and all that jazz, but what do I know about teaching scripture and talking to children?! I did my best and I guess it wasn't too bad. I'm not sure if they quite got the idea of giving the gifts of love, joy and peace, but eh, those are kind of difficult concepts anyway. Although all this reminds me I need to tell Mum what happened but I need to go to bed now so that'll have to wait until tomorrow, I guess.

Still no luck locating my lunchbox, I checked the car again, but no sign of it and I'm quite certain I didn't leave it at my parents' house. Sniff, that bums me out.

Right, better be off now, I didn't get anywhere near the proper amount of sleep last night and if I don't get at least 8 hours tonight I'll regret it I'm sure.

I don't have my external drive plugged in right now so I'll have to give the Sims Thing a miss for this entry (I know, shocking!)

Goodnight all!
anonymoose_au: (Plushy Goes Eeeee!)
11:44pm: Yes indeed! It was a close thing! So close in fact that if I hadn't picked up 100 extra points for cutting nearly the correct number of cards (each player gets 15 cards each at the beginning) M and I would have had to play another hand. And then I wouldn't have got home in time to watch Letters & Numbers which would have been a shame.

So, go me! :OD

In less fabulous news I'm just about to lay down to sleep (unsurprisingly) and I seem to be having heartburn, um ow, and very inconvenient, especially since I don't think I have any antacids in my house anymore. Maybe I shouldn't have had sausage for dinner, especially after the big lunch I had at M and Grandpa's. Grandpa cooked fish, chips and celery in white sauce, very delicious. And there was ice cream, blueberries and that choctop sauce for dessert. Although I suppose that wouldn't directly impact on me getting heartburn right now.

Anywho, what else to report? Oh! I got onto my friend, turns out she is here in Aus so I've arranged to go over to her house tomorrow after work for some friend time, yay! :OD As I've mentioned before I've really been falling down on the seeing friends thing, so this is great.

Right, I better be off now, sorry about the rushed entry, but you know how it is with my mad-cap life. :OP

10:25pm: Not one I've been undertaking, no I'm talking about this episode of MacGyver where his company's idea of stress relief is going on a day long hike complete with crossing a disturbingly flimsy looking bridge. Worst idea ever, although what MacGyver's doing up there when he's supposedly afraid of heights, however the fact he climbs mountains and such seems to refute that. But then again that's MacGyver for you, LOL.

So, today I went over to M and Grandpa's after work for Canasta, unfortunately for me I hadn't realised that M was expecting me to call and confirm that I was coming. Because I hadn't she'd gone swimming in the morning and was heading off to have her rest when I arrived. Whoops!

Then there was lunch, which was very delicious, but took quite a while because that's M and Grandpa's main meal of the day, so by the time M and I got around to starting the game (that was another thing I managed to forget to bring the score of the previous game we hadn't finished) it was 3pm! Suffice to say we didn't finish this game either, so now there's two unfinished games to complete and I'm losing in both of them! Hopefully, I can make an amazing comeback in at least one.

Also, my baggy pants situation is getting quite silly now, so I decided to pop by the Narrabeen Vinnies to see if I could find a second hand pair that would fit better. I thought I'd managed to score a good deal, but sadly they've proved to be too small - they were sort of stretchy so I thought I'd get by. But no dice...damn that's twelve bucks I won't get back....Grandpa did suggest seeing if I could get an exchange of sorts, apparently they let him do it once, but he is an older gentleman so the Vinnies people probably figured he was legit.

In other news, Nedshenko is still with us...fingers crossed! Hopefully, this will continue.

Anyway, I better move quick with some Memes before I head off )

10:46pm: Indeed so! Always an exciting time, although I missed the Opening Ceremony because I was at work today. However, the news did replay some highlights, including the Tongan Flag Bearer who's taken the world by storm, LOL!

Right now, I'm watching the Road Race with Grandpa, Phil Liggett is commentating, yay! It's gokna be a very long race though, seven hours! So obviously we won't be staying up for all of it. But with any luck one of our Aussie's will do well and maybe pick up a medal!

It also has to be said that Rio looks really pretty from the aerial shots, which is nice because there's been a lot of doom and gloom in the lead up. Good to see the Opening Ceremony highlights, since even with the tight budget there was a lot of excitment and the caldron for torchy was amazing! :OD

In other exciting news, I won Canasta against M this afternoon! OMG! Even more than that, actually, I kicked some serious butt. Whoot! Hooray me! There's gonna be a rematch tomorrow morning though, so who knows what will go down there.

Not much else to report, although I didn't end up meeting Mum at the display suite of the apartment building that's going up in Brookvale, which was a good thing because I never would have made it! Not sure what's happening, apparently Dad's been investigating options too, maybe he's found something nicer! I'm still wondering about that one bedroom myself, although I probably can't afford that one.

Not much else to report except Uncle Sam dropped by this afternoon with a two quarters of a chocolate mousse cake, one for me and one for M and Grandpa, yum! Although, I haven't actually eaten any of my yet, I tasted some of M and Grandpa's piece.

Uncle Sam also got me onto this game called "Letterplex", we're playing a game right now, don't think I'm gonna win against him, at least not the first game.

Right, it's after 11pm and I haven't done my Russian! Better haul, I do need to get up at a decent hour tomorrow after all.

10:46pm: That subject title's a bit misleading, I mean I have the net back because the new month has begun so I've got my 4Gb of mobile data. The actual broadband is not up yet, bah, I have the terrible feeling it might actually take 20 business days for it to show up. Ick!

But yeah, at least I can finally surf the net once more, although it's probably gonna add a lot of distraction to my life, but ah well, them's the breaks :OP

What else to report? Well, I briefly met the landlord while he was outside recharging his car battery (since he's been away for so long apparently it goes flat) and I was returning from having hurried up to the 7-11 on the corner to get milk - otherwise I'd have nothing to eat for breakfast tomorrow! He seems nice and told me that if I had any problems in the place he'd be happy to help fix it. He hasn't actually come into the Granny Flat and thus hasn't seen bench, though! I'll have to let Mum know because she wants to arrange a time for us all to meet up...and probably talk about putting that pull-down clothes line in.

Somewhat unrelated, it started raining this afternoon so I had to bring out my umbrella for the first time since I accidentally closed the car door on it and broke the bottom of the handle off. I had to glue it back on, but it seems that I accidentally glued the lower telescopic part of the umbrella so now it doesn't extend all the way! It's now more micro than ever, LOL. It still works though, so that's a relief.

Anywho, I should head off soon because I need to get to work half an hour earlier tomorrow so I need to make sure I get those zzzs, and I still need to do my Russian.

Speaking of work, I got an email today from the library asking me if I could do a shift next Wednesday, I was so excited I said 'yes' right away forgetting that Wednesday afternoon is the day I'm supposed to help Mum with the Catechist stuff. Er, whoops. But my savings are so depleted Mum said that it was OK - we ended up running into each other at Dee Why this afternoon, because as it happened there was no Canasta with M today because the cleaners were coming, apparently she told me this, but I have no memory of it. Whoops. But yes, Mum and I had some donuts and coffee (for her) and hot chocolate (for me) from Donut King and then went to look at that cabinet in Aldi, but I ended up not getting it because as Mum pointed out the problem with using a wall-mounted cabinet on the floor is that it doesn't have space between the bottom of the door and the bottom of the actual thing so it can - and probably will knowing me! - hit your feet. We almost got this linen holder thing, but first of all it had a mirror on the front and secondly it didn't have an actual door, you'd have to reach behind the mirror to pull whatever you were storing in it out. This is fine for towels, but not for dinnerware.

Right, like I said, I better hit the hay! I can take comfort I guess in the fact I managed to reach 25% of my Camp NaNo goal. Oh and that I put the now empty tubs and the old half-working heater back in M and Grandpa's garage. Yay!

9:59pm: For the election which was today. And unlike last time thing's are looking way better...the Liberals who have been screwing us over for the past three years look to end up in a minority government, which basically means they can't just do whatever the Hell they want.

Depressingly, though, the ex-Prime Minister Tony Abbott is still in his seat, unbelievable, I know this side of Sydney is conservative but that guy is the biggest fuckwit. Seriously, I'm embarrassed for people.

Moving on, Dad went to look at the granny flat for me todzy and reported that it doesn't smell, is quite large, in a nice backyard with the only drawbacks being that it's kind of old looking and doesn't have as many windows as my current place.

So, I prepared to send in my application for it, this the first time I've gone through an agent for something like this and damn is it involved, not only do I need work references, prior landlord references, but two more unrelated references! Oh and of course I need to provide 100 points of ID, which sadly, I can't do right now because I'm at the grandparentals. Oh well, I'll text the real estate agent to arrange a time on Monday for Mum and I to see the place and let her know I'll be sending it over in the evening.

So, things at least seem to be progressing well on that front.

Funnily enough, Dad knows the real estate agent from when he taught her at school! This probably won't have any affect on my application getting through, but hey, small world.

What else? Well, voting today took longer than usual, the polling place was just next door to the library and there was a line there the entire time we were open! No idea why, especially with all the comments about so many people doing early voting...although there's a suggestion the Electoral Commission might have over-estimated that and thus provided less polling booths today.

I didn't even get a sausage for my trouble (the sausage sizzle is an election day institution here in Australia).

After finally voting, I exchanged my sheets for ones with darker green on them, they're bird print actually and very nice.

Then the original plan had been to go straight to M and Grandpa's, but Mum went and saw M today and ended up taking her out shopping so she wasn't home. I thought maybe the whole thing was going to be called off, but nope, which is good, because Grandpa had made moussaka for dinner.

M did need to take a rest after getting home though, so Canasta didn't begin until nearly 5pm and I kicked butt in the first hand, but alas I lost the next two hands, neither of us has got to 5,000 yet, so I need to get to bed sooner rather than later.

So I should probably wrap this up then.

On a final note though, Le Tour De France has begun! Overlapping with Wimbledon! Man, I can't even stay up very late to enjoy those.

Oh well...

I'll be off now, though.

Goodnight all!

11:13pm: For my Pusheen plush, because it's going to be rather bigger than the amount of stuffing I have left. Hmmm...I have seen some stuffing available for sale at the Fabric shop in Mona Vale - which I'll be going to tomorrow to work a shift at the library - but it was a pretty big bag. I guess I can always ask if they have a smaller one. I don't want to make too many plushies! :OP

In other news, it was ANZAC Day today, lest we forget, and once again I was unable to spot Grandpa in the march, I swear I can never find him! I'll have to ring and ask whereabouts he was in the march, because sometimes he seems to be at the back, other times in the front. I did enjoy watching the bands though, some of them have amazing uniforms.

I didn't do much else today although I did make sure to go out for a walk so I didn't go too stir crazy here in the flat. I went to the IGA which was open and bought some chocolate chip biscuits and cheese wedges. The latter I've all ready eaten. I should stop doing that, LOL.

Right, let's have a meme!

The (Other) Friday Five

The William Shakespeare Edition

Today's questions are brought to us by the letter F, the number 5, tediousandbrief on livejournal.

1) What was the first Shakespeare play you read or seen preformed? I believe it was a Midsummer Night's Dream which we read as part of the Gifted and Talent class I was in. I'm pretty sure that was the first one.

2) What is your favorite Shakespeare play? I did end up liking most of them...if I had to pick one though...The Merchant of Venice, I thought it was interesting!

3) What is your least favorite Shakespeare play? I only know a few of them...so I feel unqualified to answer.

4) Who do you think wrote Shakespeare; are you a Stratfordian or Oxfordian? I don't know what that last bit means...And I guess Shakespeare wrote the plays, maybe with some help...He definitely used stories that had been previous used.

5) Which Shakespeare plays have you read or seen or seen preformed? Let's see Midsummer Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.

Saturday 9

:Little Red Corvette:

From the archives.
In memory of Prince (1958-2016)

1) The subject of this song is frankly sexual. Do you blush easily? I dunno, I don't look in the mirror when I hear embarrassing stuff, LOL.

2) Prince was his real first name (Prince Rogers, to be exact). Growing up, his relatives called him "Skipper." Do you have any nicknames within your family? Indeed! I am the Moose!

3) Prince said he was "obsessed" with Mozart and read whatever he can find about the composer. What's the last book you read? It was a book about IBS, it was quite interesting, though a very long read indeed.

4) Between Prince and The Beach Boys, the Corvette is a much sung-about car. Tell us about your vehicle. Well, it's currently undergoing repairs after the parking lot incident, but it's a beautiful two door Mazda 2 in green. I love him and call him George :OP

5) In the 1980s, when Prince was popular, MTV could turn a song into a hit. In 2016, where do you hear new music? Don't listen to new music to be honest. I hate most of it anyway. Although I did hear about The Corrs new album through Facebook.

6) In 1982, when "Little Red Corvette" ruled the airwaves, Braniff Airways shocked the travel industry and threw passengers into chaos by declaring bankruptcy. When did you last fly? Did your trip go smoothly? Man, it was way back in 2001, from Bali back to Sydney. Aside from the shitty position of the plane seats it was quite good. The food for example was quite good!

7) 1982 is also the year Disney opened Epcot. Have you ever been to a Disney park? Yes, two! The original and EuroDisney.

8) 1982 is the year Cheers premiered. The sitcom was set in a bar where "everybody knows your name." Tell us about your favorite local bar or restaurant. Don't have one, I'm not much for going out.

9) The 1980s were considered a highpoint in professional tennis, with Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe dominating the sport. Do you play tennis? I have tried...but I'm really, really shitty at it. This despite taking lessons for like a year. I mean I only took them one hour a week during school term time, but that's still pretty pathetic. Sport ain't my thing. :OP

11:16pm: Of the much anticipated M vs Moose Canasta Game! Alas M was not at her best today, which could partly explain my stunning victory. Still... Beggars can't be choosers. :OP

Grandpa made a delicious moussaka for dinner, yum cheesey! With broccoli and beans and for dessert we had watermelon. I also finished off the second chocolate bunny I swiped from Mum's stash. ;O)

Anyway, better be off now, the grandparents, or at least Grandpa wake up early and last time I was here I got woken up too, so I best keep on top of my zzzzs.

I bid you all goodnight!
anonymoose_au: (Plushy Goes Eeeee!)
10:58pm: Yes and if I don't wake up early enough there won't be time for M and I to finish our game. M's currently winning, but I'm not doing too bad.

However, I did manage - after all my hard work to forget to bring the cupcakes along! Son of a - I was able to buy chocolate muffins which went over well.

So yes, here's to a very short entry and hopefully something more coherent tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Grandpa! He's 85.

For now, good night!
anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:04pm: Or maybe it was supposed to do that? Some fabric are and maybe this is one?

What am I banging on about? My dress, it barely fit when I first sewed it together but now the top of the bodice part of the dress is rather loose... Maybe it's supposed to be like that? I dunno...

In any case I managed to sew the skirt to the bodice, but it's not sitting quite right...I guess maybe I went a bit over board putting in the pleats? Because it ended up a bit too short, so I had to unpick some of it and it ended up a bit too long. But, I guess I want to debut it on my birthday so I guess I have more time to perfect.

Speaking of my birthday...I need to figure out what to do! The mini-golf thing? Or something else? It's a bit hard to get all the friends together though because not all of them have got back to me after I managed to lose everyone's numbers! Perhaps Facebook messenger will come to my rescue.

In other news! It was fun being with my friend for New Year's Eve, which we also celebrated with her parents when they got back from dinner. I have to say though, nothing beats being there and hearing the fireworks go off in person. Didn't help that the background music they decided to play kinda sucked.

Also, I was most disappointed to discover there's nothing on the Bridge this year! Apparently, the decoration is meant to be the lights that over the whole Bridge, but they've had those lights before and usually the're still some little symbol or picture. Heads should roll! :OP

Although, staying at home does have the benefit of making it easy to get to bed before 1am, LOL, although I did still run a bit late getting to Mrs. S's house.

Also to my disappointment, the size 6 $7 gumboots are too small, my ankles bones stick out a lot so they were rubbing against the boot, which meant, of course, that I'd never be able to stick my long pants in there, which rather defeats the purpose of having them. They don't make it easy, I tells ya.

Oh! And the biggest surprise of the day...after getting a very slow start and being all but out of the game I beat M at Canasta today! OMG! Go me! Although, I did keep her up way past her nap time so that might have had something to do with my winning. :OP Although I was a bit sleepy too, although my app does indicate I got 4 hours of restful sleep last night at least, cool.

And I also had a delicious lunch curtosey of Grandpa, spaghetti! Yum! Haven't had that in a while. :O)

Now, I have to be off because I need to do my Duolingo Russian study! Although I'm falling behind on the Memes again, tsk tsk.

But now I bid you all goodnight!

11:32pm: I'm catch up on NaNo! I'm almost at 40,000 words so I have high hopes I won't end up being too rushed towards the end.

Of course, I'm kind of at a crossroads about where to go with the tale, I'm wondering if I should make a big time-jump, the series the fanfic is based on is known for doing that sort of thing and the story is starting to drag a bit...I'll never finish the tale at this rate! Decisions, decisions.

And now, I must post my word count and get butt to bed! I don't have to get up super early tomorrow, so that's a relief. Also, the cool change came in this afternoon so the weather is bearable, plus Mum brought the new air conditioner and N and Grandpa installed it so with any luck I won't have a horribly uncomfortable and sweaty day like I did yesterday.

Oh and my house is nice and clean now, since I had to do it in order to get the air con. Now, I really need to keep it this way, it looks way better and keeps the mind uncluttered. :OP

For now though I have to be off, man these entries get shorter every day. :OP

10:59pm: Yes indeed! And I was there to welcome them :O)

However, my day wasn't all that fabulous, because I'm battling with severe reflux today...I felt it coming on as I was leaving the flat this morning and by the time I got to work it was burning! I tried to do what I could, Mrs. S was nice enough to let me eat some bread, but alas it didn't work, I tried the Donnatab, with little too no effect and finally in desperation I tried a glass of milk (although I seem to recall that's not supposed to work?). In the end I got a hold of some Zantac, which I had at home - which I needed to go back to because I forgot the key to my parent's bedroom door and I wasn't sure if they'd have their own with them - however it only took the edge off a tiny bit. Which suck ass because you're only allowed to have one every twelve hours.

I soldiered on, heading to the parental abode by way of the IGA supermarket to get milk - although as it turned out Mum and Dad had bought their own - and helped the parentals settle in a bit, I unpacked a few things for them before they arrived and I even managed to put some paint on the scratches on the car. Although according to Dad those scratches were from before Mum gave the car to me. Huh, weird. Well I've left the paint with them now.

I got a lift from M and Grandpa - who also popped by the house to say hello to Mum and Dad - to the library where I completed the ILL stuff too, which I'm quite proud of, but still all through pain, arggh! I sure wish I knew what had set this off...I must have eaten a bad combination of things or something, but I can't think of what those things could be. Which sucks because I really really want to avoid this!

Moving along, the Million Dollar Minute: People's Champion event ended today and it was a nail biter! In the end though the current only winner of the Million dollars won by just one question! Hooray for him!

Alas, I'm not in the mood to do memes so I'll leave them for another day.

For now I bid you all goodnight!

10:38pm: It's been a while since I've seen one of these, seriously, where has Air Crash Investigation got to? I haven't seen an ep of it in quite some time.

Anyway, it may not be Air Crash Investigation, but there is a show on right now about the Lockerbie Bombing, I wonder if there'll be an info in it that I haven't heard before, did you know for example that the bombmakers were tracked through purchases they made in Malta?

Moving, I got to M and Grandpa's on time this morning, but alas, there was no time to play Canasta because of the arrangements that needed to be made for the BBQ, which was apparently a BYOBBQ - you have to bring your own food and cutlery and everything. But it was good eating to be sure! We had chops, pork sausages, salad and a potato, delicious! Oh and Aunt Louise had dropped off lamingtons with cream yesterday which served as desert.

There were other people at the barbeque and we did share our snacks around and there was a lot of chatting, so it was a get-together, just one you had to bring your own food for! Although M and I were seated a bit far from most of the people, although a woman arrived later that M knew so we talked with her. She's from Hungary and has travelled widely.

After that I headed out for the gym, but first I made a special trip - last week on the way to church I saw quite a site - in honour of the outdoor ice skating rinks that are coming to Sydney a giant inflatable skate has been set up in front of a toy shop on the main road. Not that the toy shop has anything to do with it, although they are providing power to generator that's keeping the skate inflated. Anyway, I got pictures! The internet is still being a complete dick here so I only have the photo I uploaded from my phone to Facebook.

It's a good one though, see here!

Pretty awesome, huh. :O)

Although speaking of the internet, alas, I wasn't able to download the program to read the crash files at my grandparent's house because for some reason it kept failing, I don't know why. Maybe my version of Windows 7 is out of date. Crap. And I took my laptop all the way over there. :O(

Incidentally, this doco does have a lot of new footage and quite a bit about the investigation, which is what interests me. Especially the bit about the impact crater, I'd head it was deep, but seeing the actual footage is a Hell of a thing.

Anyway, I should catch up on the Memes )

Right, there are more memes to go, but it's my bed time now so I better hit the hay, it's work tomorrow!

10:36pm: It's Say Yes to the Dress time on TV, so I'm watching it and wondering...if someone really wants a certain designer dress, but the bridal store doesn't carry that designer WTF are you doing there then. Weirdos!

In other news...I emailed my grandpa about the Citroen, just to see what his opinion of it was...he got back to me pointing out that since it's a European car it'll probably cost more to service and such than a Japanese car. Hmmm, good point. On the other hand...it's a damn fine car. I guess I can only hope it - or a similar one will be around when the parental units get back because they'll be the ones giving me a loan!

My brain is so scattered today, pokes it, get with the program, brain! I guess I haven't yet managed to catch up on all my zzzs yet.

So on that note, here's the Memes:

Sunday Stealing

Swiped Meme

Stolen from: Get It All Down

Do you need to write down things to remember them? Yes, yes I do.

Do you keep a diary/journal? Well, duh, what do you think I'm answering these things in?

Are you scared of thunderstorms? I am actually, especially if there's lots of lightning and the thunder is really loud, gulp!

Do you have any unusual fears or phobias? When I see a lot of ants I freak out, like I just start shrieking and trying to crush them all, I feel as if they're crawling all over me, it's really weird!

Whats your favourite Disney movie? Oh, it's hard to choose, but for sentimental reasons I'll say The Little Mermaid, which was the first movie I saw in a cinema.

Have you ever painted a house? I've painted a picture of a house (being a smart arse), but an actual house, no sir.

Whats the tallest tree you've ever climbed? I dunno...I'm not much of a climber, although the tree itself was pretty tall I only climbed about two metres up it.

Do you always wear identical socks? If possible...although with white socks they do often get mixed up, but having a different colour on the heel helps solve that! Although at the moment I have two pairs with the same grey patches on the heel...close enough LOL.

Do you live by any motto or philosophy? Nah, not really.

Do you lick the yogurt or dessert lid? I most certainly do!

Do you lick the spoon clean after making something sweet? Yes, and for shame if you don't! :OP

Have you ever played the bongos? Nope.

Have you ever handled a snake? Yikes, certainly not!

Have you ever assembled furniture by yourself? Nope...I have assembled furniture with my mother though, turned out well.

When did you last go to the beach? Um...at the end of January, I got sunburned, which sucked.

When if ever did you last go to London? 1993! Good times.

What do you do to cool down when its hot? Go swimming, turn on the air con or drink icy cold water, mmm yeah.

What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten? As a boring eater...probably something I got at an African restauraunt, which I don't remember the name of.

Do you have a favorite mug? I do! It has Garfield on it. I also have a mug with a Do It Yourself crossword on it...but I can't remember where it is now...gulp!

Do you know any self-defense or martial arts? Nope, except maybe go for the eyes?

Who's your favourite movie action hero? I'm partial to Mr Incredible and his family! :O)

Have you ever ridden a motorcycle? Nope! I'm too much of a scaredy cat for that I think.

Do you collect anything? Books...Garfield stuff when I was younger.

Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion? Um...hmm, maybe shirts and whatnot that aren't too low cut. A lot of the new stuff doesn't look quite right with my big boobs. :OP

Do you stick to conventional fashions or like to try and be original? Eh, I don't care for fashion really, so beats me.

Have you ever given someone a handmade present? Handmade cards yes, but an actual present, nah.

If you could have any feature from an animal what would you want? Wings to fly! :O)

Unconscious Mutterings

I say ... and you think ... ?

1. Summer colds :: Suck!

2. One direction :: Boy Band

3. Hormones :: Daaaamn

4. Noteworthy :: Person

5. Ice cube :: Coooool

Concentration

10:32pm: That's an apt description of the Canasta game I played with M today. At first I screwed up majorly and handed M a huge score! But then I crawled my way back into contention before at the very last moment of the fourth hand M was able to get the two Canasta's needed and go out. Aaaah, booo, alas! I so need to concentrate when I play cards, I get distracted so easily!

In other news, I'm watching the new Whose Line Is It Anyway?, I didn't realise we had it here on Australian TV! It's still funny as Hell although I miss Drew Carey! I wonder why he was brought on to host? Still, it's pretty cool a woman was picked. Although I have no idea who she is.

Anyway, I ended up getting to M and Grandpa's late because I forgot to plug my phone in before going to bed last night and it ended up going flat. A fact I didn't realise until I got to M and Grandpa's and went to look at it. At first I was most concerned because the last time it got flat it took me like five minutes to get it to turn back on, but fortunately after I plugged it in over there it came to life. At which point I recieved a message from Mum, apparently there was something wrong with the reference number I sent her for the BMW's insurance. Which means it wasn't paid, which means technically unless she's done it now (when I got home I checked the bill and it turned out I'd mixed up two numbers) I shouldn't use the car tomorrow. But I said I'd bring it over so I could help Mrs S with some of her moving, although it should be OK, since when I paid the insurance on the Chery despite it been like two weeks late the person asked if I'd had any claims to make.

But that reminds me, I also need to call Vodafone because Dad managed to lose his phone so I have to get it cancelled before the 8th of June and the new billing cycle starts. Or someone gets hold of it uses it for nefarious purposes.

What else to report? Uh, not much...oh wait, the lunch up at the Retirement Village dining room was seriously good eating, Lamb roast and there was even dessert! Good times, good times.

Oh! And also through a combo of poor decisions and having to use my mobile hotspot earlier this week I finally used up my mobile phone's monthly data usage. Or wait...did I? I can't remember if it's 2Gb or 2.5Gb I should check that.

And now, I should catch up on the Memes a bit. )

Oops, after behaving oddly all evening, the internet has decided to conk out, so I'll have to send this through my mobile hotspot and then it's off to bed.

Wish me luck tomorrow!

11:01pm: Well, in so much as a Canasta can be a battle, LOL, I started off pretty badly, at one point I was more than a thousand points behind and it looked as if I was going to lose epically. However! I managed to fit back and daaaamn, had my hand been a little better I could made it. But then I guess that's the luck of the draw! I really must concentrate better when it comes to Canasta, I think I would have had my ass kicked if not for the fact we had a break in the middle, because M ad a massage appointment and I went to the gym.

In other news the weather seems to be turning again, luckily I had brought my umbrella along, but still, we just got over all that! Sigh. Well as long as there isn't cyclonic winds again.

After the gym I went to Aldi where I got a new belt which I'm pleased to say fits - well it should since that's why I got it, LOL.

And then I popped by the local shops to buy some loose envelopes for M, a lamington for our afternoon tea, ham, spaghetti (for dinner) and a cappucino for M, I should have got me a hot chocolate now that I think about it. Ah well, I've got my hot chocolate packets here, so maybe I'll take one along so I can have some at the library tomorrow. :O)

Speaking of which, there's a part-time position going at one of the local libraries! It closes on 4th May a serious business resume and cover letter is a must, I also need to call up just so they know I'm enthusastic and I am!

So...it's a bit late now so I should wrap this up, I've decided I won't write too much about the horrible thing that occurred two eight people including two Australians in Indonesia...suffice to say the Death Penalty is a horrible, horrible thing, that is all.

And now I'm off.
