11:54pm: Right I've left this way too late to update, but just a few quick pieces of news for you all.

Firstly, after all that I found my activity tracker, the magnetic part of it had stuck to my keys and when I got up on Friday morning and actually focused on the hanging from the hook I saw it there! Phew! I also put in a new battery because the one it came with was definitely on the fritz. Although that still doesn't explain why the 'find tracker' thing in the app said it was in the city, seriously WTF?

Also, in regards to the subject heading the cement guys finally came by this morning to put in the new concrete. Luckily, the landlord had these planks behind his house which I'm using as a walk-way to my door. The new cement looks super nice, it's also much higher, almost the same level as inside the flat. Which makes me wonder if I should be worried if it rains? Won't water be able to seep inside much more easily? I sure hope not!

I didn't go ice skating this evening because a co-worker tipped me off that the outdoor ice skating rink is back in the city again! Sweeet! I'm planning to go on Tuesday this week, although it might have to be Thursday since I'm hanging out at M and Grandpa's on Tuesday, but then I'm going over Monday night so...I suppose I'd leave when M goes for her nap. Anyway the point is, I want to go at an off-peak time, it's cheaper then.

Anyway, it's almost midnight and I didn't get enough shut-eye last night so I gotta wrap this up...lack of sleep is making me feel uninspired to write and that ain't cool.

So now, bed is needed! Goodnight all!

11:52pm: Yes! This evening I not only finally got my umbrella back from my friend's house where I left it like two month ago - buuut I got to hang out with some of my high school friends, one of whom I'd hadn't seen in aaaages!

It was great! :O) We were actually supposed to be helping the friend's whose place it is with packing because she's moving out soon. But we kind of ended up abandoning that, LOL, fail. But it's not as if she's moving out tomorrow so I don't think it's too big a deal. :OP

I was a bit disappointed that I had to leave, but I do have work tomorrow, although even if I didn't I was starting to feel a bit sleepy so I probably would have had to go anyway unless I was going to sleep over or whatever.

Anyway, it was a heap of fun so I told them to let me know next time they were hanging out so I could hopefully join in - unless it was going to be a pub-crawl or something, 'cause they ain't no fun. :OP

Anywho, as mentioned I do have work tomorrow and it's almost midnight so I better wrap this up and hit the hay.

Goodnight all!

11:28pm: Aussie Style! Yeah! I do forget that it's on but I managed to remember it today and it's pretty hilarious. I do love me some good improv and all the best games are there...Scenes from a Hat, that one where you have to change the last thing you said...I even saw the one with the three dates a few weeks back. I've yet to see News Anchors, though I hope that comes up soon! Although they put it on so late I'm not sure if it's actually getting a lot of viewers, which means it might get cancelled, to which I say boo.

Anyway it just finished so I switched over to 9Life for my house show and the show before was still on and damn this guy on it looks a lot like Biff Tannen, it's rather creepy to be honest.

Moving along, I've had abdominal discomfort all damn day, checking my app I think the middle of my cycle is coming up, not the ovulation pain again! Because that's just a pain in the...ovary :OP I also had a headache this morning, but two paracetamol helped wit that, I don't think I got quite enough sleep though, so better make sure not to do that tonight.

Not much to report, except that I didn't finish the library book that's overdue and on hold, do'h! I actually drove to the library this evening hoping I could finish it and return it, but nope it was going to take too long and was it was getting dark, not to mention the library had already closed by that point. So I'll have to do it tomorrow morning before head over to M and Grandpa's for Canasta and lunch.

But oh I forgot to mention, I found my Marge Simpson glass last night, it was next to the sink the whole time! I have no idea how I missed seeing it! I need to get my eyes checked!

Right, before I wrap this up let's have another Meme:

Sunday Stealing

:The Cannon Fodder Questions:

1. Is there someone you'd like to be kissing right now? Nope.

2. When you're being extremely quiet, what does it mean? I'm either really upset, nervous or just gone to sleep (but I talk in my sleep apparently so that may not last for long! :OP)

3. What are you listening to right now? House Hunters International good times, good times.

4. Are you a big fan of thunderstorms? Not really, thunder scares me.

5. Do you believe in perfect? Like a perfect day? Or a perfect person? Yes to the former, no to the latter (unless we're talking about Jesus or something). But hey not everything has to be perfect.

6. Are you a jealous person? I don't think so? I have no idea to be honest! I've never had a relationship.

7. What was the first thing you thought this morning? "Man, that was a weird dream..." I've kind of forgotten what it was now though, I think I was at Plushy's new skating school though!

8. What do you think about when you are falling asleep? Nothing much...probably just that I have good dreams!

9. Are you satisfied with what you have in life? Eh...pretty much, although I could use more hours at the library. Why is the employment market so unkind.

10. Do people ever think that you're either older or younger than you actually are? Ha, ha, younger, all the time younger! I don't wear make-up so I guess I look pretty young. Although people have stopped asking if I've just finished high school, now I get what uni course are you studying, LOL.

11. Do you think men truly understand women? Eh, dunno, but do women truly understand men? :OP Or anyone truly understand anyone?

12. How about women understanding men? Oops, pre-empted this question, but see above.

13. Did anybody ever call you handsome or beautiful? Nope, I have been told I'm pretty though.

14. What is one fact about the last person that called you? Uh...she's my boss.

15. Other than your current one, tell us about the longest relationship you have had either a romance or a particular good friend. When I was a kid in Dubbo, I had one best friend, we got on super well and I was so happy to have one good friend (I had others, but as a general rule I have trouble making friends) and it sucked when my family and I moved to Sydney. We eventually lost touch, but I still remember the good times.

Okedoke, time to hit the hay, although I've got one last musing about the current ad I'm watching - it's about a doorbell and camera system that works through wi-fi so you can see who's at the door from postmen to burgulars, but...why would a burgular ringt the doorbell?! Or does the camera just send video whenever anyone gets near to your house? Sounds annoying...

Your thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. :OP

For now, goodnight!

11:37pm: In Equador? I'm watching House Hunters International and apparently in Equador (and other places I suppose?) they don't have regular hot water, they just put heating wires around the actual shower head. Like WTF? I don't even understand how that would work without electrocuting you first time. Seems it must though. Crazy all the same if you ask me.

Anyway, not much to report I got to work at Mona Vale today early...real early as it turns out as I wasn't on today! WTF? How embarrassing! I felt pretty silly, especially since I bought a sausage roll for break time before going in. There wasn't any mini-sausage rolls there, but the owner kindly let me have a normal sized one for the same price!

So, once I discovered that I wasn't on at Mona Vale, I realised that meant I needed to do my volunteering! So it was off to Dee Why Library for that. On the plus side, at least that meant I could return the stuff I borrowed there personally because I'm still not sure if returning them at Mona Vale means they'll get checked in that same day. Because Dee Why Library doesn't let staff avoid overdue fees, which is pretty rude when I think about it...

Anyway, the volunteering went OK, although I don't feel like I got as many selections done as I should have, oh well. Once I finished I popped by the parentals on the way home to try looking for my sunglasses, but no luck. While there though Mum gave me some concerning news about my apartment, the agent had actually called me while I was driving to the library to ask for Mum's number so she could tell here something and I found out what it was.

They hadn't actually got the DA entirely approved by council when they were selling the apartments! So instead of a 15 storey tall building, they can only do a 7 storey one! Which means a whole lot of apartments will no longer exist! There's no word on whether mine will be one of these, but seriously what the fuck? I guess that news article wasn't wrong! Buying off the plan is risky. Now if the apartment does disappear we can get our money back, but I'm most irritated because the deposit we paid could have been in our bank accounts gaining interest. Instead the building company gets it! I've heard about that bullshit before, not cool not cool at all.

So, now I have to wait and see what happens.

On the upside I found my sunnies! I turned out I'd left them in the shopping bag with my new swimsuit - so it was here in my room this whole time! How embarrassing - again! I actually thought about that this morning but I'd forgotten where the bag was...so that was another worry until I found it again. But yes everything is back in hand.

Anyway, it's coming up on midnight so I better haul butt, good news, though, Plushy's grand opening of his skating school went super well and there was cake and everything! Yum! Except now I want cake ;O)

But yes, on that note, I'm out!

Goodnight all!

10:15pm: Well, at least I'm getting a good pun in, but in all seriousness this is so fucked up.

As you all know my memory sucks...and this time it's truly ruined my wallet.

I decided after watching the ice skating highlights on SBS that it was time to head to Macquarie Centre and get my skates on. So I'm driving when suddenly police car lights flash in my rearview mirror! I was surprised but thankfully had the presence of mind to pull over rather than keep driving like some of the idiots you see on RBT/ I thought maybe I was getting a random breath test, but after handing my licence over I discovered it was worse...much worse.

I had completely forgotten to register my car!

It expired last Saturday so for almost a week I've been driving around unregistered and uninsured! FUCK! How could this happen?! Why didn't I get a renewal notice?! Didn't I pay for it? (No that was my comprehensive insurance, which is a totally different thing).

The cop was very nice, but that didn't stop him from giving me a ticket for driving unregistered (although, he at least didn't give me one for being uninsured too).

A ticket for $650.

I'll type that out again for you in the back row.

SIX

HUNDRED

AND

FIFTY

DOLLARS
!!!

That's more than I earn in a week! That's nearly three weeks worth of savings towards the stamp duty for my apartment. Two and half weeks worth of rent.

It's an absolutely ENORMOUS amount of money! On top of the actual cost of registration and the CTP Greenslip (which is $900). Add to that the parking fine from a few weeks ago...and the speeding fine...my car is swallowing money like a monster. :'O(

I don't understand why this is happening! I've always been such a good driver! Now I'm speeding, illegally parking, scraping and driving unregistered like a complete loser.

What really kills me though is that for some reason, despite the fact I changed my address for my licence, Service NSW (which includes the Road Department) had my OLD address on file. How can that be?! Although as it turned out it doesn't look like the renewal slip came to my old place because I went there on my way home (I couldn't continue on to the ice rink :O( which was the cherry on top of a completely sucky cake) and the old landlord said he hadn't seen it.

So, the damn fuckers didn't even send it!! What the fuck?! The nice cop said I could ask for a review of the fine and see if they'd waive it, but I don't hold out hope...if they wouldn't take pity on me for speeding 7 minutes before I would have been going 20kms under the speed limit, I don't see why they would for driving unregistered and uninsured.

If the review fails you can take it to court, but like that'll happen! If I end up been found guilty I'd need to pay even MORE, and no way could I stand up in court and defend myself.

And here I was thinking the day was looking good because despite having forgotten to take my lunch with me to work I found my nurse's watch! It was on the shelf in the Returns Room of the library where I put my stuff, it must have fallen out. I was so glad to see it again!

However...that watch cost $7, so...it all pales in comparison.

And to top it all off? Because my car is more than five years old, it needs a safety check before I can register it. And absolutely no mechanic in the area is open on Sunday, there's no way I can register my car until Monday. I have no idea how I'm going to achieve it...I've got a shift at the library on Monday afternoon, so I'm not sure if catching a bus to Mrs S's and then back to the house to get the car and taking the car to my mechanic for the check will work because I'll only have 1.5 hours between Mrs S and the library. Although when I type it out like that....

On the other hand I feel like I need to get this looked at as soon as possible, apparently the check can take 15 minutes, but it all depends, it could end up been 40 minutes. If that happened in the 1.5 hours I'd be stuffed because the shift doesn't end until 6pm when the mechanic would be closed, so how would I even get my car?

So I guess on Monday morning I'll get to the mechanic's at 7:30 - Google says he opens at 8am, but who knows maybe he'll open early.

The thing is, I don't want to tell my parents about this...there's nothing they can do about it and even if they lent me money I'd have to pay it back so it's not like I'd save any money. However...Sunday night is when I usually go over there, but obviously I can't do that, even worse I can't go to church with Dad (either in the morning or the evening) because there's no way to get there by public transport (or at least not without catching two buses). But I'm a creature of habit so what am I meant to say? Although it's just occurred to me I could simply tell Dad (Mum will be away at a hotel) that my car's out of rego so I can't drive it without mentioning the supreme fuck-up that was the fine. I guess that'll have to do.

The other big disappoint is that I was supposed to see my grandparents' and little bro tomorrow morning (to thank the former for the money to go on the cruise and to finally give the latter that huge Ferrero Roche I got just after Christmas and which goes off at the end of this month), but obviously I can't drive there either. I rang the little bro to tell him my woes (he's had fines himself so he was most sympathetic) and he did offer to come and pick me up and even drive me to work, although we hadn't actually asked M and Grandpa if they were available for tomorrow so he called them up to ask, but they haven't got back to us yet, so who knows what will happen there.

Oh...and lastly, my activity tracker is still MIA, I called the library, but it wasn't in lost property, but then again...it's hard to describe, also the shelves are magnetic so maybe it's stuck to one of them. As for the Medical Centre, they didn't answer the phone so I have no idea if it could be there. I was planning to go there tomorrow to look, but...can't do that.

Okay then...let's wrap it up here, I still have my Russian to do.

Goodnight.

10:03pm: Aw man, I think I'm once again going to have to take a break in proceedings regarding the recounting of the cruise (man, I hope I don't forget all the fun things I did! :OP) because this cold is kicking my ass.

The good news, the sore throat seem to abated.

The bad news, we have entered the runny nose part and I forgot to buy tissues when I went to Aldi today - also ice cream, but tissues are way more important and it's way too late to do anything now except go to the 7-11 up the road but I'm not up for that. I may have to use a roll of toilet paper.

I did manage work today, although I forgot to bring my security pass so when I arrived I had no choice put stand in front of the window near the after-hours return chute until one of the other staff members saw me. And...of course it had to be raining (it had been raining since last night actually - it might still be doing so now, but I don't feel like checking). Which reminds me I better find it and put it in my bag now.

Right, done!

I also had a period of time today where I couldn't find my cruise ship pen! I thought maybe I left it at Mrs S's house so I SMS'ed her, but nope so then I was left worrying that it had fallen out of my bag at some point.

Turned out it was on my bed. Man, I gotta keep better track of stuff! I was almost late this morning to work anyway because I couldn't find my car keys. Sigh, major fail.

Also, with the runny nose situation I had to nix the cupcake making - I mean maybe if I was making them just for myself, but for other people?! That's a food-safety violation of the highest order. Shame though, I bought the double thick cream and butter and everything.

Anyway, I better wrap this up and go to bed - I'm a bit worried about work tomorrow afternoon, since when I have a cold I generally feel grossier the more the day gets on...I may have to skip church so I can wake up late although I'm not 100% sure that'll make a difference.

Right, I'm out.

Goodnight!

11:57pm: Yes indeedy! And we're watching International House Hunters together! And she also bought me a present of sorts. She managed to forget to back her toothbrush and what not so needed to buy another one and she saw a Garfield one in green!

So, she bought it and gave it to me, sweeet! Although I probably won't end up using it as I'm set for toothbrushes.

I also spent this evening watching the mens and womens free programs at the Cup of China - which was full of thrills and spills, but I'm pleased to say there was no bad mouthing of Plushy (there was only one British Eurosport guy commentating today though so I guess it would have been weird to bitch to himself, also the other skater did OK in his program so there wasn't really any point in bitching) but more excitingly my favourite ladies skater and one of my favourite men got bronze medals! Hooray!

Although seeing as I'm here at the parental house I'm not sure I should have watched the live stream, I sure hope I didn't eat up all their bandwidth!

Also I'm very happy to report I found my lunchbox! It turned out there was a cupboard in the library kitchen I hadn't noticed before, there were lots of empty containers in it and one of them was my lunchbox! Oh thank goodness, I was feeling quite bummed about that.

Anyway, I better wrap this up and hit the hay, I didn't get nearly enough sleep last night and also had the unpleasant experience of being woken up by heartburn and reflux, yuk. But hopefully things will go better tonight!

11:10pm: So I'm trying to set up the new fish tank in preparation for - hopefully a new fish - however, I'm worried because the water I've put in it is all murky and cloudy. I have no idea why because I put water in the old fish tank along with the fake fish that came with it and it's clear enough. I can't figure out if it's the actual water or the gravel because it's proper gravel...maybe I need to vacuum clean it before I put a fish in the tank? This is starting to get a bit expensive...

In other news, today it was back to helping Mum in the classroom this afternoon, which went quite well! And then Mum came over to look over the Granny Flat, the review was mostly positively, although she did do quite a bit of cleaning of the surfaces for me. At one point I missed a phone call and then noticed an SMS from the real estate agent apparently saying she was coming over! I did call earlier to see about setting an actual time for tomorrow, but I spoke to a secretary about that and it seems she might have misunderstood? By the time I got around to calling the real estate agent back and it turned out she wasn't coming by after all since the appointment as I said, is supposed to be tomorrow! Anywho, we've set a time now, so that's good.

So now the place is super clean and I really need to keep it that way! It looks so much nicer. You can do it, Moose!

Oh and on a final exciting note guess what I saw in the crate where the landlords keep their gardening stuff? My sponge! Hooray! :OD I was so happy, I picked it up and took it with me to show Mrs S, who had an excellent theory that far from being a bear it is, in fact, a cat. Which makes sense what with the Japanese people's fondness for cats. But yes, it's great to have it back.

Right, I didn't get nearly enough sleep last night so I'm off now.

But wait! I almost forgot the most exciting news of all! I got an email today letting me know I've got an interview for the full-time library assistant job! OMG! Of course I had to call up because the originally had me down for 10am on Friday, but now I'm at 2pm. Oh wow, I really have to make a good impression here...fingers and toes crossed!

11:48pm: Not much time to update, but I just wanted to mention that after all my hard work the people at the Post Office said they couldn't accept my passport photos because I was wearing my glasses in it! Also, it was too old, the minimum is like 6 months and this photo's more like 6 years! But mostly it was the glasses, but how weird is that? I always wear my glasses!

Although, I guess "Clark Kent Syndrome" doesn't really exist, so they can still tell it's me. Still the new photos cost me 16 bucks and I have to take them back to Mrs S to be endorsed.

In good news, I found my remote control! It was in one of the pockets of the white rocking chair I left at the old Granny Flat, whoo!

But now, I must flee I'm so sleepy!

Goodnight all!
anonymoose_au: (I Don't Know...)
9:36pm: Right, let's start with the good news! I found my personalised Nutella label! I'd all put given up hope on it when suddenly I realised there was one last place it could be, my laptop bag, which I stuck in the left cupboard part of the buffet cabinet. And there it was, whoo! :OD

So that's a big relief, what isn't such a big relief is the fact that all the studio apartments in the development my mother and I looked at a few weeks back have sold - or at least had deposits put on them. :O( Awww, I was looking forward to living somewhere nice and new in the future...Although I suppose I should make sure I've got a sufficient income before I do that. Mum and Dad are of the opinion that it wasn't meant to be, and something no doubt will pop up, but I dunno...housing is getting more expensive! Experts keep saying there's going to be an oversupply of apartments and thus the price will fall, but they've been saying that for ages and it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.

Then the weird news...I seem to have lost a cucumber...I got it and a carrot to have for dinner and then went into the main room to eat and got distracted and whilst I found the carrot the cucumber remains unseen! Which is awkward because I last saw it on my bed...so like it's in here somewhere. o.O Man, I hope not...I've looked, though and I cant find it!

What else to report...well as it turns out all my cleaning yesterday afternoon didn't pass muster, now admittedly I did forget to clean the fridge, but I gave the oven, microwave, shower and toilet a go. In fact the toilet is rather questionable...when I got there it had a stain in it that wouldn't come out, not even Mum could get it to sparkle again. I gave it a good hard scrub, but...you know. The shower was also a disaster, Shower Sparkle only works on a clean shower so there were all these streaks on the glass doors.

Anyway, the landlords said I could either do more cleaning or pay $50 from my bond and have their cleaner - who comes tomorrow - do it. In all honesty I'm someone who sucks at cleaning so I decided to cut my losses because chances were I'd go back and it still would pass muster.

In other news...Le Course by Le Tour De France is on this evening before the Last Stage, this is the women's bike race, unfortunately there's a problem with commentary at present! I have no idea who any of these ladies are or who's in the lead or what. You can hear the onsite commentary, but it's in French which I don't know so that's no help, LOL.

And I finally went to church tonight after missing two weeks - shame on me :OP - my parents also went so we sat together, they were supposed to bring my heater with them, but they forgot to look for it while they were at M and Grandpa's today. Ah well, I've got my electric blanket, although whenever I get up it's coooold.

10:43pm: I forgot to mention this last entry, but yesterday when I was trying to figure out what to wear to my cousin's belated birthday party I realised that I sewed my green pants wrong (they spilt in the crotch region, how embarrassing! :OP) and as a result they didn't sit right. Damn, gotta fix that...

So I felt I should wear jeans, the problem is the ones I got from Aldi are proving the adage "You get what you pay for" because they're all ready starting to split in the crotch regions as well! However, after my not so good week a fortnight ago I've lost a bit of weight so I decided to put on the pair that used to fit. They're still tight, but not painfully tight at least so that was a relief.

Then I needed to figure out what shoes to wear, I originally decided on my green boots, putting them on required me to unroll the bottoms of my jeans - they're too long so I have them rolled up all the time pretty much - and when I did that what did I discover...?

My Aldi fitness tracker!! The one I thought I lost last month! Somehow it ended up safely ensconced in the rolled hem! I did wonder if it would work since I'm pretty sure I washed those jeans...although the thing is apparently waterproof, but that's for swimming, which is quite different from being swished around in a washing machine! But I plugged it into it's recharger thingy and when I got home from the party it was alive again! Hooray! Except...I'm not sure what to do with it now that I have my Jawbone Up. I did offer to give it to Mrs S, except she only wants to use it once to see how well she sleeps (in records how much you move in sleep mode and how much deep or light sleep you get). But it's good to have it back...if embarrassing because seriously?

Anyway! Moving along, I've got to get it together re: leaving in the morning, I was late to Mrs S's place today for like the third time in a row! Only by about six or seven minutes, but it's not a good look particularly after the library job interview. As I've mentioned because of the nature of the job you can't just give a week's notice and start a new job, at least not if you don't want to be an asshole. Someone needs to be trained well-enough to be confident to work alone before you do. Now I don't think I'm going tog get the library job - unless the other interested parties have zero experience, but since Mrs S all ready put signs up "just in case" if I slack off too much on the start time I might find myself being replaced!

Which sounds terrible, but remember Mrs S relies on her carers to get up and start her day and uncertainty stresses her out as much as it does me. As bad as losing the job would be (knock on wood!) I can get something else with my qualifications, Mrs S can't just rustle up a carer out of nowhere.

So yes, gotta get to bed earlier, which means I better do a Meme or two because I'm totally behind!

10:26pm: As it turns out I don't need it, because I managed to find the official transcript for my Masters in Information Studies that I need to take to the interview tomorrow. However, I really should put it in a folder so it doesn't get tattered or dog-eared. Also..there's some important stuff in that folder...I could have sworn I saw it only last month but it's nowhere to be found now. I guess it'll turn up when I start packing to move out.

In other news, I need to figure out what to wear! Normally for interviews I wear a dress or skirt, but I've kind of neglected to wax my legs, so you know...plus I'm planning to go to Dee Why Library afterwards for my volunteering and to let the staff co-ordinator person there know how the interview went so I'd probably be more comfortable in pants. Although should I at least wear my dressier shoes? I dunno...

Of course, I'm wondering now if I should have taken my mother up on her offer to go over the position description and whatnot so I could be prepared for any questions I might get from the interview panel. However, she called me at about 4pm and I didn't really feel like heading out, although it's school holidays so the traffic would probably have been fine. But yeah...

Soooo...not much else to report, although I did finally get back to the gym today and to my surprise quite a few people turned up to work out as well. Like at one point there were six of us in there! Quite unusual, at least for the past couple of months I've been there. I did go a bit later than usual I suppose.

And now I've procrastinated so much here that it's quite late and I gotta do my Russian before I hit the hay!

On a final note, an Aussie won a stage of Le Tour De France yesteday, whoo! How cool is that. :OD And the pelaton just went through a roundabout, that's my favourite part.

OK, I'm off...wish me luck everyone, tomorrow is going to be some srs bsns.

11:36pm: Making cards that is...what isn't in the cards is memes, sorry about that!

But it's been a busy day, what with work at Mrs S, then a drive to the Super Centre in Belrose and then work at Mona Vale Library!

I managed to do it all though, phew! Despite the fact I had to make a detour via Mrs S's house on my way to the library because I thought I'd left my mobile phone there. As it happened...I hadn't left it there, at least not in her house, no...it had fallen out in the bin room. Into the bin itself! I know...ewww...and also embarrassing. How do these things happen? Good thing I checked though! Otherwise I'd be down one phone! O.o

In other news, there's an ad on right now for a perfume...called Black Opium, is it just me, or is naming perfumes after illicit drugs in rather poor taste? I mean do we really want teenagers asking for that? Or associating it with a nice smell? Or is it just because opium isn't a word that's used much these days? I still think it's weird.

So yes, I got the three cards that need to go overseas done only to discover that I don't have their addresses after all! Shit. I've sent a private Plurk, but I'm not sure what will happen if they don't reply tomorrow because I'm quite sure they won't arrive on time anyway...but they certainly won't if I have to wait another day! Gulp!

And...look at the time, it's too late and I better be off, sorry for the short entry syndrome!

So now goodnight all!

10:43pm: I bought new clothes today! Now admittedly one was half-price, but still actual new clothes! I've been depending on second hand shops or my mother deciding to buy me something, which has worked out rather well honestly, but I was having no luck with getting some nice looking black shorts or three quarter jeans. So when I saw that Just Jeans was having the buy-one get the one 50% off I decided to take advantage. I've been having a heap of trouble finding non-distressed 3/4 jeans, but there were three different blues to choose from! Also they had size 11s, I've been bemoaning the problem that I seem to be in between size 10 and 12, so this is great! Although I still had to get the size 12 in the shorts, because the size 11 of those didn't fit quite across the hips.

Anyway...I put the new shorts on tonight, and am I most happy with them. Although, right as I was making the purchases I was overwhelmed by...well I didn't think it was a panic attack, but maybe it was? Anyway, I got dizzy, a little nauseous and sweating. It was really bad, I wanted to lie down, but there was nowhere to do that. So I ended up just sort of wandering around aimlessly trying to contact Mum, but she was at work didn't answer.

Eventually, I ended up in the park next to the shopping centre because I didn't feel like driving and I finally got onto Mum, who I didn't speak to for all that long, but it was enough to get me back in the car and home.

Unfortunately, when I got home I discovered I'd left one of my shopping bags behind the in the park! O.O And it had my milk and bread in it! So I hurried back in the car to get it, fortunately it was still there, but I'm a bit uncertain about the milk - it was a humid day today and it must have been sitting out there for an hour. Is it safe to use in my cereal? Or at all? Anyone know? Please advise.

I also got stamps for my Christmas cards, but I didn't get around to drawing any today, do'h! I need to get onto that otherwise they won't arrive in time!

Oh! And great news, my Santa lights are working! I thought they weren't earlier, but obviously it wasn't quite dark enough when I first went out to check. They're so cute! I'll get a photo to show you later.

And I'll have to put the memes off again because I need to start work half an hour earlier so I better get to bed now, I don't think I've been getting enough zzzs and that might be behind my problems today.

Oh! And my legs are much better, Dr Google you're such a pessimist.

Ah Crap...

anonymoose_au: (Oww...Aaah...Owwww)
10:56pm: Well, I have some concerns...about my legs, I seem to have injured them somehow. When I got up this morning I had shooting pains across the front of my ankles and up my shins whenever I walked. To say nothing of the discomfort when I had to kneel down to help Mrs S with her shoes and whatnot. Shiiiit. Asking Dr Google isn't of much comfort, apparently the recommendations for some of these injuries is complete immoblisation! O.o Shit son, I certainly can't have that happen! I wouldn't be able to do either of my jobs, also both my legs hurt, how would I even get around?

I really hope this is some one-off kind of thing and that I wake up tomorrow feeling much better.

Moving on, I do have good news to report in the form of my Garfield Christmas pjs, they were hiding in my bed the whole time! LOL fail.

Not much else to report, except that as feared all the discounted GPS I saw at the Warriewood Dick Smith's were gone, booo! I thought I had something the Warringah Mall one, there were some on special there, but one was actually sold out and the other couldn't be sold because it had no box (I hope they took it away, because that's pretty useless). I've actually ordered a refurbished one from an online site which will hopefully arrive here in good working condition and all that. Fingers crossed.

Moving along, I guess I should do a few memes before I need to head to bed.

Saturday 9

6/11/15

All Random

This week's Saturday 9 is refreshingly theme free, featuring questions submitted by regular Saturday 9ers.

Crazy Sam really appreciates all the help she received with this week's meme, and is jealously protecting all your unused questions. Expect to see them sprinkled throughout Saturday 9s in the future.

1) Do you prefer your pickle sliced thin, sliced thick, or in a spear? Don't like pickles at all.

2) What kind of eggs do you like best for breakfast? Ooo, that's a tough one, either soft-boiled or over easy.

3) If you got 2 pennies for change, would you pocket them or leave them on the counter for the next person? We don't have pennies, we have 5 cents, so...two of those would equal 10 cents, and I'd probably either keep them or put them in a charity box on the counter if they have one.

4) You’re now in charge of the manners for the planet. Tell us the new rules for cellphone etiquette. No shouting your head off when you're speaking to someone, we don't want to hear all your business!

5) You’re about to write a novel. What genre will it be (sci fi, chick lit, historical fiction, comic …)? I have written or attempted to write a novel, I dare say I would like to finish it one day, it's historical fiction.

6) Is it a bad thing to lie to save a friend’s feelings? Depends what the lie is about, if it's something big like their partner is cheating then yeah not good, if it's whether they can sing well eh probably not so bad.

7) Is your big toe your longest toe? Nope, my second toe is.

8) Hot stone massage: yea or nay? Doesn't sound like my cup of tea.

9) Do you check the mirror before going out? No...which has often led to embarrassment, so now I try to make sure I check myself in the car's mirror, or at least brush my hair either way.

13/11/15

The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia (1972)

1) The lyrics tell us about a young man who stopped at a bar named Webb's before heading home. What's the last restaurant or bar you visited? What did you order? Hmmm, I guess that would be the Long Reef Golf Club where I had the $10 fish and chips, good eatin'!

2) In this video, Vicki Lawrence is obviously lip synching. If you had to participate in a competition, would you do better at karaoke or lip synching? And what song would you choose to perform? Lip-synching clearly, even if I was off time, which I'm sure I would be, it couldn't be worse than my singing!

3) Back when this song was popular, so was the Rubik's Cube. Can you solve that 3-D puzzle? Fuck no, and it beats me how you do it! I got all one side done once but then undid while trying to solve the others!

4) Vicki Lawrence is a hyphenate, meaning she's a comedienne-actress-singer. Using hyphens, describe yourself. Carer-Library Assistant-Weirdo :OP

5) Back in the early 1970s, songwriter Bobby Russell first offered this song to Cher, who refused it. Give us the name of a song Cher did record. Oh man, what's that song called..."I Believe"? You know with the overdoing of the auto-tune, although I didn't mind that song all that much.

6) Vicki Lawrence won her first big break playing Carol Burnett's kid sister because of her resemblance to the star. Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity? There's a glamour photo of me where I look a bit like Audrey Hepburn, but that's the extent of it.

7) She also starred on Mama's Family in the role of matriarch of an argumentative Southern clan. As we head into the holiday season, do your plans involve a lot of family time? They do! There's Aunt Weed's Christmas Party on the 20th and actual Christmas Day. Good times, good times.

8) After The Carol Burnett Show and Mama's Family, Vicki became a staple on daytime TV. She hosted Win, Lose or Draw and was a contestant on The Match Game and $25,000 Pyramid. Do you watch much daytime TV? When I'm not working I watch a lot of TV, but it's not exactly day time stuff, it's documentaries and whatnot.

9) Random question provided by a Sat 9er: Bugs/insects. Do you like 'em or fear 'em? Tell us something/anything you know about them. Well, I don't mind spiders, but cockroaches and ants scare the shit out of me, ugh! Although spiders are arachnids, which is apparently a class different from bugs/insects.

And now I must be off to bed, although I'm still not catch up, it's occurred to me also that I don't think I'll be able to see the previous months Unconscious Mutterings boo.

Ah well, for now, that's all, pray for my legs!

Goodnight all!

11:50pm: I'm exaggerating a bit, but I'm working hard on catching up, today's word count is supposed to be 45,000 words, here's were I currently stand...

41424 / 50000 words. 83% done!

Not too bad...I hope, although there's now only three days left, here's hoping that I can be productive this weekend! I hoped to do more writing today, but I ended up not getting home until almost 5:30pm because I went to the doctor to see about my acne - which doesn't seem to be going away. Unfortunately, I didn't think I needed to make an appointment, but apparently medical centres in Dee Why don't really do walk-ins, the first one said they couldn't see me until 4:40pm and it was only 3:10pm then so I went to the other one that said someone could see me at 3:50pm so I decided to go with them since I am trying to finish my library book.

As it turned out I didn't get seen until 4:40pm anyway! So that was rather irritating, but on the plus side the doctor said I didn't need a referral to a dermotologist right off the bat, he said I should try out this benzoyl peroxide stuff to see if that would clear things up first. Rather awkwardly, I could have just got that over-the-counter, whoops. I used it first time this evening, fingers crossed it does something! The pimples on my face are refusing to go away even after a week, it's most uncool.

And finally before I rush off to bed, I had a bit of a scare today when I realised I didn't have my Misfit on my person! I figured it must have fallen off in the car, but I only just now remembered to go down and check under the seats, but alas it wasn't there! However, I looked in my other bag and there it was, what's up with that? Oh well at least it wasn't lost because that would have sucked.

And on a final note, I made lasagna tonight woohoo! Always very delicious. :OD

Right, I'm off to bed I need to catch up on my zzzs! Especially since I've got work tomorrow.

For now, goodnight!

10:31pm: I'm just watching the recording of Homes Under the Hammer and the buyers of this particular house have laid the shiniest kitchen floor I've ever seen! Woooow. Although, I have to wonder how long that shininess would last. Probably not very long if I lived there, LOL, but man whoever buys that place, better love mopping!

But there's something that's not so shiny right now...and that is Dad's car...this morning proved to be a bit rushed, when I realised to my horror as I got in the shower that I'd left my necklace in the locker room at the swimming pool yesterday! Again!

Now, as you all know this happened before and I never found the necklace and needed to replace it, which lucky for me only cost like 40 bucks. All the same though, I couldn't believe that it had happened again! Perhaps there was still a chance it would still be in the locker I used. So I hurried to get ready and jumped into the car and headed for the swimming pool.

Anyway, to make a long story short I had the magnificent luck to find the necklace, charms in tact in the locker and I had enough time to get from there to Mrs S house, arriving on time even though I was starting half an hour earlier than usual. However...when as I walked up the driveway to Mrs S's I looked over my shoulder to make sure that the car was locked when I noticed...

Scratches! A huge wide scrape on the rear bumper on the passenger side! I could hardly believe my eyes! But I closer look confirmed it! Someone had side-swiped the car! It must have happened yesterday in the parking lot of the library because that was the only time the car was in a position to be hit on the side. Seriously though, is life kidding me?!

There wasn't much I could do about it, except take a photo and send it to Mum. She tried to call me, but I couldn't answer since work had started by then, but I did hear my phone since it doesn't go into silent mode until 8:30, so that sucked.

Anyway, after work I had to pop home and change clothes because I planned to continue onto the library after going to the parentals - Mum left me a SMS saying I should come by so she and Dad could look it over. However, Dad wasn't there when I arrived, he'd gone to do some work at school and wouldn't be back before I had to leave.

Mum took a look at the scrape though and gave me the bad news that it didn't look like it could just be buffed out and painted over by Dad, so I had to look up some car repairers, I found two, one of whom was a mobile person, so I had to send some photos to him and he said he'd give me a quote and the other place - which had the funny name of Lord of the Dings did operate from a workshop so I had to drive to it.

Mum thought it would be cost about $150 or thereabouts, but the Lord of the Dings guy took a look and quoted me $500 and two days work! Son of a bitch! $500 for a couple of scrapes? That's bullshit, Terry. But seriously, that's so expensive! I don't have that kind of money! I mean I do...but that's money I'm saving for my own car.

The other man hasn't got back to me, but I don't know if he'll have a better quote for me...

What a mess! Even worse I can't be sure it was some random jerk who side-swiped me or if I may have done it myself. I'm sure I didn't though...so now I have to pay for some asshole who ran off? Now I know I once did something similar, but only because I was sure I hadn't damaged anything and though it turned out I had someone had taken my number plate so the cops ended up tracking me down, or rather my father. But the point is, in the end I paid for the damage - although I probably shouldn't have for the car that was behind the car I backed into - that guy should have had his parking brake on...isn't that the law? But it doesn't seem I'll be so lucky.

And now it's way passed my bedtime because I have to start work half an hour earlier again because Mrs. S needs to get to the city by 12:30pm, so on that note I better be off.

Commiserations on my car issue would be welcome.

And to add insult to injury my lower abdomen has being a complete ass to me since the afternoon, I took some paracetamol, but it hasn't done shit. Boo.

Goodnight all!

10:46pm: You won't believe what showed up today in my car...my Fit Bit! How bizarre, I swear I checked it very carefully yesterday and saw no sign of it. But this afternoon when I went out to the gym - after going to all the trouble of picking up Mum's one and having to dash to get my orthodics (which I was late for, whoops) - there it was lying there between the driver's seat and door. So weird, but I'm most thankful! Thanks, St Anthony, I didn't even have to pray directly to you this time. :O)

In other news, I discovered this afternoon that the black pants I wear for my carer work had worn away in the groinal region, and there was now a whole in them. Well shit. However, after finding the Fit Bit my luck continued as I went to the Vinnies in Brookvale and managed to find a pair there that fit very well for only 5 bucks. That's a relief!

Moving on, the weather has been ridiculously good this week, with clear skies and warm weather, a little too warm even I had to turn the air-con on in my car! But it still gets cold in the evening, plus it's supposed to get colder early next week, so I shan't be putting my scarves away any time soon.

What else...I used the new vacuum cleaner today after letting it charge for 24 hours, it works pretty well, especially on the laminate flooring in here. Not sure about the carpet though, then again my bedroom area is still a bit messy so I wasn't able to vacuum with abandon in there. I'm looking forward to trying out the dust buster bit in my car, which is looking a bit worse for wear.

And now I better check what memes need to be done before heading off to bed - tomorrow is skating day so I have to be up early so I can get my washing done!

Booking Through Thursday

Storage

How do you store your books? On bookcases? In piles? In piles on bookcases? Are they sorted? Do you know where everything is? What’s the most creative storage you’ve seen or used for your books?

In bookcases! At least here at the Granny Flat, and I have sortered most of them in a generally comprehendable sort of of order, not full-on alphabetical, but mostly so and by subject. At the Newtown apartment though, I use crates, which is sort of irritating because if I want a book at the back I have to pull the whole crate out and sometimes they're heavy!
As for the most creative way I've seen books stored is on a shelf that seems to be invisible, so it's like the books are floating up there! Quite amazing.

Friday5

Fresh Catch

1. What were your feelings the last time you stood on a scale? Well, it was less than the time I got on it a week before so I was pleased, but then when I found out that I'm shorter than I thought and looked up my BMI I found I was technically slightly overweight, whoops.

2. In what ways are you old schoool, and in what ways are you new school? My music preferences fer sure. As for how I'm new school...uh...I don't think I'm new school in any way.

3. What big event is coming down the pike for you? Well, my training shifts at the Pittwater Library continue which is a rather big event, oh! And getting into the Casual Pool - officially - at Warringah Library. Apart from that, nothing big in the near future.

4. In which social situations do you thrive, and in which do you flounder? I thrive in small social situations, with a couple of friends or even people I don't know that well, however in big crowds or official occasions I'm usually the complete opposite, not able to talk much and very anxious!

5. When was the last time a fad hooked you? Uh...well I've kind of got into Hetalia which is a bit of a fad in Japan right now. Also My Little Pony, but as far as fashion or whatever, I'm not one for fads, they change too fast and it's too expensive to keep up anyway! :OP

Right those are the only two memes up, so I guess that's my cue to exit.

Oh wait, on a final note, my new orthodics are so comfortable! Man, I really needed those things...Big relief to finally have them let me tell you.

11:14pm: Indeed! It was damn cold today! I'm happy to report though the old heater and timer set up in the bathroom worked perfectly, in fact I'd go so far as to say it was a bit too toasty in there I've turned the switch down to the lower setting, so we'll see how that'll go.

In other news, I couldn't find the remote control for the new heater this morning, I've got it now, but you won't believe where I found it...in my shoulder bag. It must have fallen in there because when I was changing before going to the library for my volunteering there it was just sitting in the bag. WTF? Well, at least it's not lost!

Yawn, I'm mostly sleepy, so I'll keep this entry short.

I finally saw Mrs. S's new house today! It's really nice and pretty damn big, bigger than I thought it was from the photos I saw and the description. I just don't know how long it'll take to get there by bus in the morning since I can't really test it until the day of they move in comes. Oh well...

What else to say? Not much, although I'm afraid I caved in and bought a big jar of Nutella at Coles this afternoon because it was on special. Tsk, tsk. I've stuck it behind the other stuff in the pantry so hopefully I won't eat it too quickly.

Anyway, I better wrap this up, I should be sleeping now not typing this up!

I'll have more to report tomorrow, I hope.

11:27pm: I should be in bed! But I got distracted reading stuff on the internet (as usual :OP) and I don't have too much to report about today anyway. Although, I made my lasagna for dinner tonight and it's come out quite perfect, yummy indeed!

That further reminds me that I forgot to take the cupcakes to Mrs S house today, do'h! Better make sure to do that tomorrow otherwise they won't taste very good and what a waste that would be!

Anyway, I'll make this quick then, today was far busier than I thought it would be. No I didn't go skating, but I managed to miss the bus that would get me home after the volunteering at the library and doing some shopping.

It was super annoying because the bus was late, but just before it came I realised that my Fitness counter wasn't in my pants pocket! And the last time I saw it was at the Lifeline shop where I was looking for jeans. So I had to leave the bus stop and rush back there, where I discovered to my dismay it was nowhere to be seen! I even asked the people in the shop if they'd seen it, but no luck.

Eventually, I returned to the bus stop, the bus had been and gone by then and emptied out my bag where to my great relief I found the Fitness counter at the bottom, I had taken it out of my pants pocket when I was trying on the jeans and placed it on top of the bag and it must have fallen in there.

THEN I realised I'd left the book I was reading back at Lifeline, so back there I went and then back to the bus stop to wait...until I received a call from the Job Centre place I'd forgotten the appointment there! Fortunately, it's just down the road so off I went.

Originally, I was only supposed to be there to sign something, but it turned out my Employment Pathway plan needed to be updated so we had to go through that...After all the waiting at the bus stop I'd done I began to worry I was going to miss yet another bus! But it all ended up OK in the end.

And now it's only 15 minutes to midnight! I'll have to skip the memes again and hit they hay!
